Artist’s statement
The work considers the interconnectedness, ore oneness of all living things: a human form that floats as a butterfly or bird, the human hand which gestalts the Hebrew letter " Shin,” the Hebrew symbol for god-and its own resemblance to the tip of a fork: all interconnected; this is the way of us and our human journey. I am passionate about rare and mathematically improbable beauty and brilliance; and so the creating of the floating form, actuated more fully in 2021, seemed a reasonable visual foundation for the work to speak; that which transcends, is improbable, magical, scarce; these things I live for and strive for everyday. And from the floating female form, organically it can connect to an angel, the shape of a human hand, the gestalt of the nourishing tip of a fork. We are one; and we are of magic and incomprehensible and sacred beauty. This work aspires to, in abstracted form, speak of the interconnectedness of all of us, and all Things. We are of special magic. We are one.

Peter Schlumbohn was a German inventor best known for creating the Chemex Coffeemaker. The Chemex was also one of the few products from any designer or inventor of the time to achieve an "iconic" role in popular culture, becoming part of the permanent collections of art and design museums, including New YorkNotable design author Ralph Caplan described the typical Schlumbohm invention as “a synthesis of logic and madness”. Caplan, like hundreds of thousands of Americans, was particularly fond of the Chemex Coffeemaker, describing it as “one of the few modern designs for which one can feel affection as well as admiration.”
